FISCHIO X 12TH ISLE — Showcase @ Villa Lontana

FISCHIO invites 12th Isle to Villa Lontana to celebrate 10 years of the Glasgow-based independent label. From 7:30 PM, live by Fan Club Orchestra, the long-running improvisational project led by Laurent Baudoux (aka Lawrence Le Doux), followed by a live A/V from Material Things, experimental music project and production moniker of 12th Isle co-founder Stewart Brown. \_\_\_ Fan Club Orchestra (FCO) has its roots in collaborative performances and recordings that began taking place in the late nineties in Brussels. At a time when large contemporary arts spaces were less professionalised, less obedient to funding and attendance numbers, and still attuned to their founding DIY impulses, FCO were able to nurture their nebulous cast of players with their unconventional ensemble of instruments to their own ends. A newly regrouped FCO presented their album ‘VL\_Stay’ on 12th Isle in 2024. The current formation is made up of Lawrence Le Doux, Ann Appermans and Zephyr Ziljstra. Material Things is the production moniker of 12th Isle co-founder Stewart Brown. Recent years have seen the release of two album length projects combining influences from the canon of motorik, dub and drone, alongside explorations in asymmetric rhythms and electronics. Informed by ambient dub traditions, the performance at Villa Lontana will take a starting cue from an experimental video work by 12th Isle visual artist Al White and will push the music towards abstracted, introspective shapes.
