Listening to the Invisible

Kunstverein Milano and Fondazione Galleria Milano initiate a shared research path dedicated to out-of-the-ordinary states of consciousness. The program begins with a question: why do we talk about trance? And why, in traditional contexts, is it so often associated with music? Their first meeting focuses on Stambēlī, a musical, ritualistic and therapeutic tradition that developed in Tunisia within Afro-descendent communities formed through trans-Saharan slave routes.
