Fatherland

German voiceover with Italian subtitles Fatherland focuses on the relationship between Nobel Prize-winning author Thomas Mann (Hanns Zischler) and his daughter Erika (Sandra Hüller), an actress, writer, and rally driver. In the summer of 1949, at the height of the Cold War, father and daughter embark on a demanding and exciting drive in a black Buick across post-war Germany from Frankfurt dominated by Americans to Weimar under Soviet control. After sixteen years of exile in the United States, Thomas Mann must reckon not only with his homecoming but also with his Nazi past.
