Fatherland

German version with Italian subtitles Fatherland focuses on the relationship between Nobel Prize-winning author Thomas Mann (Hanns Zischler) and his daughter Erika (Sandra Hüller), an actress, writer, and rally driver. In summer 1949, at the height of the Cold War, father and daughter embark on a challenging and thrilling drive in a black Buick through devastated Germany, from Frankfurt under American control to Weimar under Soviet control. After sixteen years of exile in the United States, Thomas Mann has to deal not only with returning home but also with reconciling his past and his new life.
