Fatherland

German version with Italian subtitles Fatherland focuses on the relationship between Nobel Prize-winning author Thomas Mann (Hanns Zischler) and his daughter Erika (Sandra Hüller), an actress, writer, and rally driver. In August 1949, at the height of the Cold War, father and daughter set off for a demanding and exciting drive in a black Buick through post-war Germany, from Frankfurt dominated by American forces to Weimar under Soviet control. After sixteen years of exile in the United States, Thomas Mann has to come to terms not only with his home country but also with the Nazi past that still haunts it.
